SAC 2021 Valedictorian Wins $140,000 All Bahamas Merit Scholarship
The Board of St. Augustine's College, as well as administration and staff would like to graduate our 2021 valedictorian, Maya Tilberg, on being awarded the Bahamas All Merit Scholarship, valued at $140,000.
This award is the top award given to a single candidate by the Bahamas government.
About Maya:
Received 10 As on the BGCSE exams in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, English Language, Literature, Mathematics, Religious Knowledge, Spanish, and Office Procedures
Graduated highschool with a 3.99 GPA
Recipient of the St. Augustine’s College Sisters of Charity Valedictorian Award
Recipient of one of three Overall General Excellence Awards at graduation
Recipient of the 2021 Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS) Academic Leader Award.
Received 9 subject awards, the most of any SAC graduate in over 30 years
Scored 1400 on the SAT exam
Awarded the $68,816 Mark Twain Scholarship from the University of Missouri, where she is currently enrolled majoring in Premedical Science
Plans to become an orthopedic surgeon.
Recipient of the Dr. Francis Adderley Award in 2016
Placed third in the BAISS spelling bee competition in 2016
Placed first in the Junior Varsity Beginner Equitation (Walk/Trot/Canter) in 2020 at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) International Invitational
Served as a lector and volunteer at her home church, Sacred Heart Parish
